Flesh, The Devil and Shuggie Minto by Lesley-Anne Brewster

Shuggie Minto and a number of other “worthies” are the creation of local writer Lesley-Anne Brewster. With its couthy characters, local expressions and wry humour, this play resonated with a fair sprinkling of Dundee theatre-goers.

Lesley-Anne had this to say about the series of readings at the Little Theatre:

It’s a great idea. I believe that there’s a lot of talent in Dundee, but not a lot of confidence or money or support. So anything that offers folk a chance just to be heard and seen, and which encourages them to explore and demonstrate their skills before an audience, has really got to be a Very Good Thing, as far as I’m concerned.

The evening followed the now established format, with the audience having the opportunity to watch the cast, director and writer do an initial rehearsal from 6.30pm, ahead of a complete readthrough and open discussion.
